UPDATE: Thank you all for your generosity on Wednesday night! Your jump-in-with-little-notice generosity was wonderful. The clothing and donations were delivered last night and the Potter family was very thankful for your kindness. Once they get settled and start to figure out their housekeeping needs, I will let you know. For now, we won’t overwhelm them with items as they are still in the “figuring out” stage of things. I will let you know when we can be of help again! Thank you so much!
I’m asking a favor … if you are planning to come to Yoga tonight, you might just be the person who can help a family in need!
Yesterday, my neighbors lost their home and everything in it to a devastating fire. Many of you may know Jenny and Jim Potter. Jenny works in the Orange Schools.
They are still reeling and trying to figure things out. But, the one thing I know that we can help with right now is providing them with a few articles of clothing to tide them over for the next couple days and weeks.
You might be just the right size to help. I’m seeking to provide them with just a couple sweaters or long-sleeved shirts, or maybe a sweatshirt or hoodie to get them through chilly mornings. Perhaps a jacket. Or short-sleeved tee-shirts could be helpful too.
Sizes needed: Women’s XL and Men’s 3X.
In like-new, clean condition please. Just bring to class this afternoon if you can help. I will deliver the items this evening after class.
I don’t want to overwhelm them, but perhaps you may have one thing in your closet that you could offer.
There may be more detailed ways we can help in the days and weeks to come, but for now, you may have one item that might be just right.
Seva is the Yogic word for service … helping our community and those in need.
I know this is a last-minute request … and you may not be able to help directly. I appreciate anything you can help with today. Thank you! Namaste!
