Peaceful Hands Yoga Moves To Warren Street In Orange

changeOver the past 12 years, Peaceful Hands in Orange, Virginia has become a Yoga family and I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of our classes — those who come every week and those who are only able to come once in awhile. You are a special part of the Peaceful Hands Yoga family.

And, now I’m delighted to invite you to our new Yoga home …

Beginning December 31 (New Years Eve!) we’ll be located at the Sedwick Racquetball Courts (in the upstairs studio). The address is 228 Warren Street in Orange … very easy to find (directions below).

This change brings many new benefits. First and foremost, a lot more space to stretch out comfortably and play in a nice wide-open studio! Plus, more parking and easier in-and-out before and after class.

While our address is changing … the spirit of Peaceful Hands Yoga remains the same.

??????????

Look … our Ocean Wall has already arrived!

I hope you and your Yoga mat will take the new studio out for a spin.

(My massage studio will remain in downtown Madison.)

Here’s our upcoming schedule.

*** Last class of our current HOLIDAY session is this Monday, December 15. Be sure you get your Yoga in before the Christmas break. This is our last class in our current studio.

I also have some lovely items available for Christmas stocking stuffers and gifts, including CDs for peaceful meditation and restful sleep, beautiful handmade origami stars and birds for decorating trees and packages, and a limited number of those awesome “sticky” Yoga gloves that keep you from sliding off of your mat.

And, of course, holiday gift certificates for massage or Yoga … or both! Do a bit of shopping before or after Monday’s class!

*** Make a healthy, fit, and vibrant 2015 your New Year’s Resolution!

And, begin that commitment with Yoga classes on New Year’s Eve AND New Year’s Day:

Madison Yoga: Changes For 2013

‚ÄúThe only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change.‚Ä̬† ~ C. Joybell C. (author)

Thank you for sharing your Yoga with me and enriching my Mondays!

But, don’t pack your mat away just yet!

My massage studio remains in Madison … and stay tuned … because lots of exciting Yoga news will continue to unfold in Orange.  I’ll post all those updates soon!

Oh, so much to do!

Orange Yoga ~ A New Home!

Ganesha has arrived to banish obstacles. The bells have arrived so class can start.
We’re just waiting for you¬†& your Yoga mat!

Yes … it’s official (finally!)

Peaceful Hands Yoga in Orange has a new home!

Beginning in January 2015, Peaceful Hands Yoga is located at 228 Warren Street in Orange, Virginia. (It’s on the second floor of the Sedwick Racquetball Courts.)

I’m hopeful that our new home will give us a bit more room to spread out, a nicer space, and better ventilation and temperature.¬† While no space is perfect (or so I am told), I hope this will become a sacred space for you to share your Yoga with me each week.

Lots of floor space so you can stretch out without knocking your neighbor over!
And, the ocean wall I’ve always wanted! There should be ample wall space for everyone
to flip over and kick up our legs from time to time.
I hope this will become an inviting and sacred space for your Yoga journey.
I hope that it feels like home.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. You can post your comment here, email me at jackie@peacefulhands.com or call me at 540-672-9528.  Thank you for being part of my Yoga family!

Bear & Rabbit Say "Thank You"

During 2011, Peaceful Hands Yoga students were incredibly generous to the Wildlife Center of Virginia … donating time, supplies, and food that helped save the lives of many wild animals.¬† I’ve said “thank you” before, but I wanted to take a moment to thank you all yet again for your kindness.¬† Your generosity embodies the pure spirit of yoga!

This spring many of you helped with an online voting campaign to name the Wildlife Center’s new Red-Tailed Hawk RUBY — in honor of the young civil rights hero, Ruby Bridges.

Also this spring, many of you became part of “TEAM BUNNY” collecting fresh young dandelions, lettuce, and other fresh greens to help provide tasty and nutritious food to the overflowing number of young rabbit patients at the¬†Center.¬† Rabbit patients are fussy eaters.¬† The time you spent collecting and picking bags of fresh greens ensured that these fussy eaters had something they liked!

This fall, you changed your focus to “TEAM BEAR”, working together to gather food to feed a young, underfed bear cub.¬† You provided so much good, nutritious food!¬† My car was filled to overflowing several times.¬† Many of you tapped your friends, local grocers, and your schools to collect donations.¬† The bear grew big and strong and was released back to the wild¬†in early December.

And, then, you joined in a WILDLIFE CENTER BENEFIT yoga class in December to support the Wildlife Center — bringing monetary donations, supplies, and other equipment that will support the Center’s work in the days, weeks, and year ahead!

I thank you for your kindness to all creatures — big and small — and for¬†the inspiration you are to me.¬† I’m uplifted by you whenever you unroll your yoga mat with me.¬† And, I’m uplifted by the kindness of your heart!

But, really … I think two Friends of the Center, BEAR & RABBIT, say “thank you” much better than I ever could.

Here’s the link to this special little presentation: Bear & Rabbit Review 2011 at the Wildlife Center.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

You don’t need to wait for a new session to start to join in — you may join in at any time.

My classes are designed for all levels; beginners and long-time students of yoga are welcome (and all levels in-between). Don’t worry if you’ve never been on a yoga mat before. Yoga is a beautifully forgiving practice; each pose is accessible to each of us as long as we approach the pose with kindness, and we never push to the point of discomfort or pain. Sometimes each of us must modify a pose to support injuries or restrictions; yoga can be modified in infinite ways to make it accessible and beneficial to all of us.

Two classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The 4:30 p.m. class focuses on a Level 1 practice, exploring basic Yoga poses from a variety of traditions.
The 6:00 p.m. class may also include Level 2 poses, more challenging Yoga for those who would like a slightly more vigorous practice (with modifications available for beginners.)

While Beginners and others are welcome at any of my classes, if you have physical restrictions that may limit your practice, you may find the easier pace of the early class more comfortable for your needs.

We practice basic hatha yoga and I like to explore and play with many different yoga practices — including flowing Vinyasa Yoga, gentle Tibetan Yoga,¬†and balancing Ayurvedic Yoga. Every class includes some breathwork and time for relaxation and meditation. Yoga is a wonderful way to bring health, flexibility, and strength to the body; calm the mind and relieve stress; and rejuvenate the spirit.

Class Sessions — Sessions are generally on an 8-week schedule (although that does change from time to time, especially in summer and around the holidays,¬†so check the website to see where we are in a session).¬†

There are two discounts for people who choose to enroll in a full session.

** Students may take any eight classes over the eight-week session. ($72)

** Students may take an UNLIMITED SESSION, coming twice a week or as often as their schedule allows.  ($120)

Both options offer a deep discount over the per-class rate of $13/class.

(Make-Up Policy: Students may make up any missed classes during the session, by coming on a different day or at a different time.  Because of the generous fee discount, there is no carry-over into the next session.)

Students are always welcome to take classes as drop-ins, but only if space is available in the class.

What To Bring/What To Wear — Bring a Yoga mat if you have one. We do have a few “loaner” mats available. We also have Yoga blocks and other props for your use. Dress for light exercise. Most students wear Yoga pants, leggings, sweats, or shorts, along with a short-sleeved tee shirt. During the relaxation part of class you may wish to have a sweat shirt, socks, or an extra layer available. Yoga is done bare foot. Bring a bottle of water (no other food or drink is allowed in the studio). Cell phones must be turned off during class (“vibrate only” is also distracting to others around you).

Cancellations — Occasionally classes are cancelled due to bad weather or other calendar conflicts. Session dates are adjusted accordingly. I post last-minute cancellations on this page, on Facebook (Peaceful Hands on Facebook), and email those who are¬†registered in the current session.¬†¬†If in doubt, check this website or send me an email.

Refunds — If you enroll in a session, but must drop out of the classes, please let me know via email as soon as you make your decision. You will be charged for the classes in the session (whether attended or missed)¬†up to the point when you contacted me, at the regular drop-in rate of $13/class, and will be charged a $15 administration fee. Because the session fees offer such generous discounts¬†over the regular drop-in fee, it may be that there is no outstanding refund owed.

For more info on the current session click on the¬†“Orange Yoga” label at the bottom of this post, which will bring up a list of previous postings. Or contact me at jackie@peacefulhands.com or call 540.672.9528.
